Couch Crawl is a tabletop-game night in a browser: one adult hosts, players join on phones, the story shows on a TV. These terms keep it fair for everyone. By creating an account or buying anything here you agree to them.
Accounts
- Accounts belong to adults (18+). Players join through a game code a host shares — they never need an account, an email, or a purchase.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account and for the content of games you host.
Acceptable use
- Keep it welcoming: no hateful, sexual, or harassing content in game text, campaigns, or anything published to the marketplace. Remember that players of every age may read what you write.
- No attempts to break, overload, or reverse the service, or to access another person's account or data.
Purchases
- Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see card numbers. Prices are shown before you pay.
- A purchase is a personal, non-transferable license to use that content in your games — not ownership of the content and not a right to resell it. Purchases can be revoked if refunded or charged back (see the refund policy).
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; cancelling keeps paid features until the end of the paid period.
Hero plans
Couch Crawl is built and run by one independent developer and is in beta. Features may change, and the service could shut down. Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel — cancel any time from your Account page.
- Heroes+ is $1/month and Heroes Unlimited is $5/month, + tax where applicable. Both are subscriptions that renew monthly, charged to the card you gave at checkout, until you cancel.
- Cancel online at any time from your Account page (Manage subscription). Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan stays active until the end of the month you paid for. Nothing you made is deleted when a plan ends — heroes beyond the free limit become read-only.
- Founder is a one-time $20 purchase, offered during the beta only. Unlocked for as long as Couch Crawl runs: no limit on heroes, plus future hero perks. If Couch Crawl shuts down within 12 months of your Founder purchase, you get your $20 back.
- Refunds for plans are set out in the refund policy.
If Couch Crawl shuts down
- We stop all renewals immediately and refund the current month of any active subscription.
- We refund Founder purchases made in the previous 12 months.
- We give at least 30 days' notice, with a window to download your data.
Creator marketplace
- Publishing a listing grants us the license needed to host, display, snapshot, and sell it to buyers, and grants buyers the personal license above. You keep ownership of your work and you promise it's yours to sell.
- Payouts go through Stripe Connect; the platform keeps the fee shown at publish time. You're responsible for your own taxes; Stripe collects the required identity and tax information.
- We can suspend any listing at any time (content standards, rights complaints, disputes). Buyers keep what they bought. Repeated or serious violations end marketplace access.
- Rights holders: report infringing listings via the support page; we take reported listings down while we review.
Suspending and ending an account
- You can delete your account at any time from your Account page. Deletion is permanent: your private content is erased and purchases stop being accessible. What is kept, anonymised, and for how long is set out in the privacy policy.
- We can suspend an account that breaks these terms. A suspended account is signed out everywhere, can't sign back in, and its marketplace listings stop being sold; buyers keep what they bought. If you think a suspension is a mistake, contact us via the support page.
- For serious or repeated violations we may delete an account, in the same way as a deletion you request yourself.
Your content & ours
- Campaigns, maps, and characters you make are yours. You give us the license needed to store and serve them to your games.
- The rules content compatible with the System Reference Document 5.1 is used under CC BY 4.0 — see credits & licenses. Couch Crawl is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast.
The boring-but-important part
- The service is provided "as is", without warranties; game data is designed to be temporary (live games expire after a day).
- Our total liability for anything arising from the service is capped at what you paid us in the last 12 months.
- We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site, and continuing to use the service accepts them.
